Why we started Ticket Point

Events Were Never the Problem. Ticketing Was.

In Kenya, most event organisers still sell tickets the old way: post a flyer, ask people to Lipa na M-Pesa, then send a WhatsApp message saying “you're in”. That same M-Pesa message becomes the “ticket”.

It works… until it doesn't.

People forward the message. Fake screenshots appear. You spend the whole day chasing payments on your phone, updating an Excel sheet, and praying the numbers add up. At the gate, someone shows a photocopied ticket or an old message and the arguments start.

The “professional” ticketing platforms that exist are built for markets that don't use M-Pesa. They are expensive, take days to set up, and pay you out after 1-3 days (sometimes longer). Many organisers look at them, shake their heads, and go back to WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, your audience doesn't want an email ticket they might never open. They want it on WhatsApp, the one app that is always on their phone.
